...what a way to spend Memorial Day

Memorial Day and Dave and I were skiing at Snowbird in powder. But first, we waited in this massive line at Peruvian for the lift to start spinning.

We found this pocket in Mineral that only a few were hitting and we skied fresh turns all afternoon. Sorry to those who were camping and barbecuing in the rain...but skiing was great.

...you're hard to keep up with

Here's some of the things we've done this last week. Fun times Madsen wears me out on the bike(s). I'm huffing and puffing and sweating and he asks in a calm voice, "Are you cold? I'm freezing." Pffff.

Sunset hike up Corner Canyon, Draper.

Road ride up Mirror Lake Highway.

Hike in the rain up Corner Canyon. Amazing how green, wet, and mossy everything is. And so many worms!

...the camera comes out and the show begins

I asked Beau and Chet if I could take a picture of them in their playhouse and Beau immediately started choreographing his poses. He's definitely April's child. He's the next Axl's Closet top model I believe. But for that to happen, we may need to switch out his choice of white socks with Crocs, although I do appreciate the pop of color it adds to his eclectic ensemble.

Chet is no less photogenic.
He found this Gatorade bottle full of dirt and rinsed it out in the sink. Then he filled it with water and started drinking out of it. I thought maybe that wasn't healthy, but he seemed to be enjoying himself. Then, while pointing at the bottle, he said:
"There used to be spiders in here."
I asked, "Do you still want to drink out of it?"
"Yes."
"Uh. Ok."
I know, I'm a bad babysitter, and my own kids will have constant diarrhea.

Since Dave wasn't there, Beau decided to take pictures of everything so Uncle Dave wouldn't miss out. Beau wanted to show him all his stuff. He has an eye for composition and his commentary (most of which I can't remember) was the best. So darlin, here's your tour from Beau.

"This is our playhouse. But mostly it's Ruby and Brooke's."

"This is where Mr. Beaks is buried. But he's gone now, so something must have eaten him."

"I can do a wheely on my bike."

"This is the gun case I'm making for when I get a BB gun."

"I can teach you how to shoot this bow and arrow."

"This is the box where my sister puts her bugs."

Thanks for the artistic tour of your life Beau. You are a great photographer!

I also sneaked a shot of sleeping beauty Sonora.

...was it our last day on the slopes?

May 21st and Michelle, Dave, and I skied some pretty good snow on Saturday. Do you think Snowbird will make it to July 4? I want to be there if they do.

The craziest part of the day was the slide that came down Tower 3 at Anderson's. We saw the slide on our way up the lift and then skied down to check it out. I know, smart eh? By the time we got down to it there had been another slide that covered the whole run. An older couple said they were skiing down the groomed section and people on the lift started yelling at them to ski faster because the second slide was quickly approaching them.

I've never seen such a large slide in the middle of the day at a resort before. Lot's of heavy snow and 50 degrees is the perfect recipe for it.
